The Perfect Fall Apple Crisp Recipe
Fall is in full swing and nothing screams this season more than the smell of baked apples and cinnamon wafting through the kitchen. If you're searching for the perfect dessert to impress family and friends or simply satisfy your own sweet tooth, look no further. This apple crisp recipe is easy, delicious, and sure to become a favorite during the autumn months.
Ingredients:
- 6-8 medium sized apples (any variety will work, but I prefer Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup of old-fashioned oats
- 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup of cold butter, cubed
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Peel and core the apples, then cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Place the apples in a 9x9 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add in the cubed butter and use a fork or pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are cooked through and the topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
This apple crisp can also be easily adapted for different dietary needs. For a gluten-free version, simply swap the all-purpose flour for a gluten-free flour blend. And if you're looking to make it a bit healthier, you can substitute coconut sugar for the brown sugar and use coconut oil instead of butter. Either way, it will still be just as delicious.
One of the best things about this recipe is that it can be easily doubled or tripled for larger gatherings. And if there are any leftovers, it tastes just as good the next day as a breakfast treat.
So why not make the most of the apple season and give this recipe a try? Your taste buds (and friends/family) will thank you. Happy baking!
