There are countless ways to make a delicious and refreshing salad, but have you ever tried making one in a mason jar? Not only does it look visually appealing, but it also allows you to create a convenient and portable meal. In this post, we will be making a Mason Jar Caprese Salad with a flavorful balsamic dressing that will take your taste buds on a trip to Italy.
Ingredients:
- 1 small mason jar
- 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup mozzarella balls, halved
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Start by making the balsamic dressing. In a small mixing bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well combined and set aside.
2. Take the mason jar and add the cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil in layers. Make sure to pack the ingredients tightly, leaving some room at the top for the dressing.
3. Pour the balsamic dressing over the ingredients in the mason jar, filling it up almost to the top.
4. Screw on the cap of the mason jar tightly and give it a good shake to ensure the dressing is evenly distributed.
5. Refrigerate the Mason Jar Caprese Salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to mingle.
6. When ready to serve, give the jar another shake and either pour the salad into a bowl or eat it straight from the jar.
This Mason Jar Caprese Salad is not only easy to make, but it is also a great option for a light lunch, snack, or even a quick on-the-go dinner. The balsamic dressing adds a tangy and sweet twist to the classic combination of tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. So next time you're craving a Caprese salad, try making it in a mason jar for a fun and tasty twist!
